Imogen’s Rainbow Coloured HOPE

Imogen Guinness made a life changing choice this year.  The 17 year old decided to get off the couch and get running.  Not alone did she turn around her fitness levels and aerobic ability; but she also put all that effort to good use changing other lives in the process.  With the support of the healthpro Road Runners 10 week programme, Imogen was running her first 10km after ten ‘short’ weeks that seemed to ‘fly by’ according to the top teen.  Over the summer Imogen used her spare time to run in various charity events such as the Great Pink Run, The Rainbow Run and the Film Trail run, to name just a few; and now she wants you to join her. “I find running so exhilarating and love the way I feel after a long run…” says Imogen, in another breath adding: “the feeling of being fit is amazing”. Imogen ran her first 10 km in 1 hr 6 mins. By the end of the summer she improved that by 6 minutes, reducing her 10 km time to 60 minutes, a total inspiration.

rainbowImogen, now in 5th year at her new school at Alexandra College became aware of a fundraising drive and immediately volunteered herself to raise €3,000 for the HOPE Foundation, a charity which I’m proud to be an ambassador for.  HOPE works with children on the streets and in the slums of Calcutta, and was the charity that first inspired me to lose 13 stone and walk to Everest Base Camp. If Imogen achieves her target this year,  she will travel to Calcutta next March to work in the slums with alongside the HOPE team.Imogen
